European Week for Waste Reduction

The 18th edition of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) campaign—for which the Marmara Municipalities Union (MMU) serves as the National Coordinator for Türkiye—will take place this year from November 21–29, 2026, centered on the theme "Resources are Not Unlimited!" and the slogan "Question Your Choices, Protect Resources!".

Dedicated since 2009 to raising awareness about waste reduction, material reuse, and recycling strategies, EWWR focuses this year on sustainable resource management within the framework of the "10R Paradigm" (Refuse, Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Refurbish, Remanufacture, Repurpose, Recycle, Recover/Compost), which forms the core of the circular economy. Aiming to keep products and materials in use for longer, the campaign is a Europe-wide initiative that seeks to lower the demand for raw materials and encourage us to re-evaluate our consumption choices. Municipalities, public institutions, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, schools, universities, as well as individual citizens are all eligible to participate in EWWR.

Applications for the campaign from Türkiye will be accepted under the coordination of MMU between September 15 and November 15, 2026. Turkish language resources and registration guidance are available at https://mbb.bb/ewwr2026. After registering, applicants will be able to submit their action entries through the system in English.
