Özyegin University’s Pioneering Role in Aviation: Dr. Hatice Kucukonal Reelected to the AABI Board for a Third Term

Dr. Hatice Kucukonal, an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Aviation and Aeronautical
Sciences, has been reappointed to a three-year term on the Board of Trustees of the
Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) following recent elections. She has
represented our university on this board since 2020.
The Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) is the only globally recognized non-
profit organization dedicated to accrediting university-level aviation programs. Its mission is
to standardize educational quality, ensure that curricula align with industry requirements,
and enhance the employability of graduates. AABI is the sole aviation accreditation body
endorsed by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the United States and
internationally.
Notably, Özyeğin University's Faculty of Aviation and Aeronautical Sciences is the first
faculty in Turkey to attain AABI accreditation.
