Esteemed Campus Volleyball Tournament Game Regulations

  1. The Esteemed Campus Volleyball Tournament is an amateur tournament where our university students and staff apply and participate with their self-formed teams.
  2. Unless stated otherwise in these regulations, the rules specified in the International Volleyball Game Rules will apply for the matches.
  3. Matches will be played on Saturdays and Sundays in the indoor sports hall of the sports center. The start date of the matches will be announced at the end of the application process.
  4. Teams will apply with a special team name of their own choice during the tournament registration.
  5. The tournament will be limited to 12 teams. Applications will only be accepted through the online form. Teams will be determined in the order of application. After the application process, teams will be divided into groups through a draw.
  6. The draw will be conducted face-to-face, depending on the number of teams, in a meeting at the sports center where team captains will participate. Matches will be played in a single-round league format in the formed groups.
  7. Matches may be announced via sportive@ozyegin.edu.tr, the WhatsApp group, or MyOzu. Teams that do not attend the announced matches without excusing themselves will be disqualified from the tournament.
  8. Matches are played with 6 players. The team roster consists of a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 14 individuals. Matches start with at least 6 players. If the number of players falls below 6 during the match, the match will be forfeited against that team. A player who arrives after the start of the game can join if listed on the roster.
  9. Teams are required to have a minimum of 3 female and 3 male players in their playing squads. There must be at least 2 female and 2 male players in each match.
  10. Up to 2 players from the university volleyball team roster may play in the teams.
  11. The net height for the tournament matches is set at 2.35 meters.
  12. All matches in the group stage will be played over 3 sets. In case of a tie in sets, an additional set to 25 points will be played. The team reaching the first 25 points in the 3rd set (including if it's 24-24) wins the match. The team winning 2 sets wins the match.
  13. Players must not wear items such as watches, rings, bracelets, etc., that may be dangerous to themselves or their opponents, and must remove them upon the referee's warning. A player who does not heed the warning will be expelled from the game by the referee.
  14. Players must be in sports shoes and sportswear on the field. Players not dressed appropriately will not be allowed on the field.
  15. Teams must be present on the field 15 minutes before the start of the match.
  16. Each team is obliged to have their player list with them during the match.
  17. Referees may check student/staff cards. Cards must be carried by players on match day.
  18. Matches will be played with a rotational system. Teams are responsible for informing the referees of their lineup at the beginning of each set. The service order must be followed according to the rules. During a set, if deemed necessary, the referee may check the rotation order. If incorrect rotation is identified, it will be considered a rotation fault, resulting in 1 point and service for the opposing team.
  19. Each team can have a maximum of 8 reserve players during the match. Player substitutions are made with the referee's permission during set breaks or suitable breaks. A player listed in the starting lineup can only leave the game once in a set and can only enter the designated position predetermined for them once in a set. A substitute player can enter the game instead of a player in the starting lineup once in a set and can then only switch places with the same starting player. In cases of injury or disqualification from the game, exceptional changes can be made.
  20. Appeals can only be made in writing to the Tournament Organization Committee.
  21. Teams defeated in the semi-finals will play a 3rd place match.
  22. Teams will be given one excuse opportunity during the tournament, provided that they notify the matches at least 2 days in advance. In the event of a team not being able to attend for a second time, they will be disqualified from the tournament.
  23. If a player violating the rules is identified in a team, the match will result in a 2-0 victory for the opposing team by default.
  24. In any circumstances of leaving, elimination, or disqualification from the tournament, a player cannot receive an award even if their team finishes in the top three.
  25. In case of detection of unsportsmanlike behavior by the referee or the organizing committee, the following penalties will be imposed:
  • Yellow Card:        Used for minor misconduct. The player receives a warning. Continued misconduct will result in a red card being shown.
  • Red Card: Used for aggressive or behavior disrupting the game. As a consequence, the opponent team wins 1 (one) point along with the service. In cases of very severe behavior or if there is an ongoing situation, the player will be expelled from the match and if necessary, from the tournament.
