Thesis Advisor: Associate Professor İbrahim Hakkı Acar
Abstract: All children, particularly those with special needs, have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This qualitative study explored the experiences of children with learning disabilities (LD) during the COVID-19 Pandemic. A criterion sample of twenty-three children ranging in ages from 7 to 10 from Turkey was interviewed. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the collected data. Six themes and thirteen subthemes were generated: 1) pre-pandemic activities, 2) activities during the pandemic, 3) perceived changes, 4) educational process, 5) feelings during the pandemic, 6) support during the pandemic. Overall, findings from the present study provided insights into experiences of children with LD during the COVID-19 pandemic. Themes and subthemes are discussed in the framework of Ecological Systems Theory.
