Özyeğin University Named Best Foundation University in “2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings” for the 7th Consecutive Time

Özyeğin University placed first among foundation universities in Türkiye for the 7th consecutive time since 2019 in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, which assesses universities worldwide based on their sustainability initiatives and the extent of green spaces within their campuses. Out of 1,745 universities included in this year’s rankings worldwide, our University earned the distinction of being the world’s 89th most sustainable university in the overall rankings.

Launched in 2010, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings rank universities by their commitment and action towards going green and environmental sustainability across 6 criteria, including Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), and Education (ED). Each higher education institution is scored separately for each category and ranked globally. The rankings are open to all higher education institutions worldwide. In 2025, 1,745 universities from 105 countries participated in the rankings, with 142 universities from Türkiye. Özyeğin University secured 89th place among 1,745 universities worldwide, marking its distinction as the youngest foundation university in Türkiye to break into the prestigious top 100 in this ranking.
