President Prof. Barış Tan Delivered the Opening Address at the “Research Management Roadmap” Meeting Held on Our Campus

Özyeğin University President Prof. Barış Tan delivered the opening address at the closing meeting of the “Research Management Roadmap” (RM ROADMAP) project, funded by the Horizon Europe Program and coordinated in Türkiye by the University-Industry Collaboration Centers Platform. The event took place on our campus as part of this significant initiative.

Since March 2023, the RM ROADMAP project has been underway in alignment with European Research Area Action 17 (ERA Action). The project aims to unite all “Research Management” stakeholders across Europe, including institutions, organizations, and professionals who support researchers in all research-related processes, ranging from funding, management, and administration to the commercialization of research outcomes through technology transfer experts. Additionally, the project seeks to prepare a national report on the “Formulation of a Professional Framework for the Career Development and Career Paths of Research Managers across the EU,” which will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Research Management.

As part of the project’s third-phase activities, a series of meetings was held on January 9-10, 2025.Following the January 9 meeting at Dokuz Eylül University, titled “Research Management Professional Development Framework (Report 3),” a hybrid meeting was organized at Özyeğin University on January 10. The meeting titled “Career Development Framework for Research Managers Across the EU,” commenced with an opening address by Özyeğin University President Prof. Barış Tan. In his speech, Prof. Tan expressed his pleasure in hosting the closing meeting and panel of this important project. He highlighted Özyeğin University’s ongoing university-industry collaborations in line with its vision of becoming an “Entrepreneurial Research University with Global Impact.” Prof. Tan also discussed our university’s international initiatives in research management, new research programs, and grant funding schemes. Furthermore, he also underscored the unwavering commitment of Özyeğin University’s esteemed academic and research staff to addressing gaps in underdeveloped research areas identified in Türkiye and making significant contributions to advancing research.

President Prof. Tan’s opening address ensued with a panel titled “Research Management from University and Industry Perspectives”, featuring Prof. M. İrşadi Aksun, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Impact at Özyeğin University, as the speaker. The program concluded with a discussion session.
